~playing in the ravine

September 7, 2010

So last week when I hung out with some sweet friends and their kids to take their family photos, I made a startling realization. I have known this Dad for 25 years!  (longer than I have known my own brother) It was so great to see him with his kids and remember being friends at just about his daughter’s age now! Puts it into perspective, that’s for sure. We had a lot of fun playing, and getting muddy in the ravine. Here are a few favorites from our session!

And PS your kids are gorgeous!!!

It was so good to see you guys and have a fun morning together! Give those kids a snuggle from me!

The last time I photographed this family, the kids were still in school and no babies had been born for a long, long time. Well fast forward a few years and there are 2 new additions, a daughter-in-law and beautiful new grand-daughter (Her newborn session is here!) It was decided that the family needed to commemorate the fact that the women now outnumber the men! Even though it happened to be the smokiest of evenings, we had a lot of fun out. Enjoy some of my favorites…

There is a very funny story behind this ‘family’ photo…it isn’t mine to share, but I hope the image evokes some good presumptions!Fort Saskatchewan Photographer-003It is always a pleasure spending an evening with your family. Thanks for the laughs!

Yesterday I got to practice my french with a fantastic family (and wow, are those skills rusty!) I have known this Maman since we were very young, but haven’t seen her for about 8 years! It was lovely meeting her husband and beautiful kids, and spending some time with them down by the creek near their home. Another Short & Sweet session full of fun and laughter! A few of my favorites…

Their oldest daughter just loves the camera (and the camera loves her back!) She was all smiles, and full of questions, mostly about my lenses and gear. It was fun trying to remember how to answer her in french, and asking her to repeat herself slower. lol!Edmonton Family photographer-004

And the baby…oh she is SO cute! Watching her run around and trying to get her to pause for a second to photograph her was super fun! It is just like trying to get a photo of Grace right now…next to impossible!

A Short & Sweet family…

August 13, 2010

I had the pleasure to work with a great family for a Short & Sweet session out at an acreage where I just LOVE to take clients. We survived some mild mosquitoes snacking on us, a sweet little farm cat that really wanted to be in our photos, and we even managed to get the family pooch to smile for me, all in 30 minutes (or so!) Here’s a peek at what we did. Enjoy!

These boys were so funny. “Do I have to touch him?” Can you feel the love? lol! I just love teenagers!St. Albert Family Photographer 003

And Mom and Dad, can I just say Wow! 20 years and you are still smiling at each other and having fun! St. Albert Family Photographer 005

This sweet little girl stole my heart! As the smallest little person I have photographed (At under 6 pounds!) she was such an easy baby to work (play?) with. I am incredibly thankful for my amazing clients that trust me to catch these fleeting moments. In the days, weeks and months to come, she will change and grow and develop her own personality and ideas, but forever and ever I have been blessed to be a part of crystallizing this moment, this tiny portion of who she is. Thank you. Sherwood Park Baby Photographer 005

PS~ The safety of newborns (and all my clients) is my #1 priority. For photographers and aspiring amateurs, please see this fantastic article on photographing newborns safely. Thank you.

I had so much fun with this family. I took their little girl’s photos in December, before she was an all grown up one year old! And now we got to have fun with her brothers too! Sherwood Park Family Photographer-002

Thanks so much for the great family fun, guys!

One more day till the big announcement…or maybe today…keep checking back!

Meet Malcolm. Oh, you already have here. And here. And now look at how grown up this little man is? It amazes me how quickly our little people change and grow in the first year…from tiny, dependent, cuddly, soft newborns to smiling, giggling, crawling, standing big boys! I had so much fun seeing him and his big sister and brother again. And I had a tough time picking out my favorites. Look at that smile. Oh would you just…? Sherwood Park Child Photographer 001

What could possibly be my last outdoor, non snowy session of 2009 happened just this week with one of my favorite families. Many of you know that I volunteered doing youth mentoring with Young Life in Fort Saskatchewan until I started my own family. This is Virgel, our area director for Young Life, and his beautiful wife and kids, my Young Life family 8) I so love photographing these gorgeous sweethearts! Not every family I spend time with has 5 great kids (and an adult adoptee…lol!) Enjoy the sneak peeks!

~ beautiful sweetheart ~

November 13, 2009

I am so thrilled and excited for my good friends who just started their family. She was born on November 1st, exactly 14 months after her soon to be bff (that would be Grace) and boy is she gorgeous! I had some new thing-a-majigs I wanted to test out and she was my willing participant, so patient. She let me play for a few hours, although she did decide to stay awake for the most part. Her Dada is a proud member of Edmonton’s firefighters, so we had to make sure we used some of his equipment to show her off, too. 001
