Another beautiful niece, welcomed one week ago! I am so excited that I can give my new baby nieces (and their parents) the priceless gift of photography! This is something I did not plan in advance when I had my own daughter, and consequently I didn’t take photos of her until she was already one month old and past her ’sleepy’ phase. Which means I have no pictures of her sleeping (unless you count the funny ones of her in her playpen or on her rocking chair). But not the sweet slumber of a newborn. And I regret it deeply!

And so this is why I am so happy to be able to photograph my nieces. Introducing the newest niece to appear in my family (the tally is now 7 girls, and 4 boys) She is such a sweet little girl. I have heard her cry exactly once, for about 2 seconds, and it was really more of a whimper than a full out cry. I have been told by her momma that that is about the height of her fussing. Angel baby! I love her black hair (reminds me so much of Grace with the spikes!),  her perfect lips, her little smile (I think it is a real smile!) Here she is…

Seriously, don’t you love this receiving blanket? Ok, ok, I am biased since I made it, but what is cuter than a newborn beautiful baby girl sporting girly skull and crossbones? Uh, yah, she is cool like that!Newborn swaddled photoFort Saskatchewan newborn photographernewborn photoSherwood Park newborn photographerEdmonton newborn photographerWelcome, little one! I can’t wait to watch you grow up. (Neither can Grace incidentally. You will be so much fun to play with in a little while!) Love to you!

…with an extraordinary family. Photographing people being people, this is what I love to do. I headed out to the home of a wonderful young family just outside of Sherwood Park to have our session. A ‘RealLife’ session. With RealLife people. Being real. I love it! These are the first of two posts. I wasn’t finished picking my favorites, but I was so excited I couldn’t end my day without posting first. So stay tuned for more of them. Being all cute and stuff. Cause they really are.

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this sweet family. These kids are so cute! And though it was windy and chilly, we found a nice little nook of trees that blocked the wind and were beautiful! What more can a girl ask for? A few of my favorites….Blog 7

blog 1Oh Autumn…how I love thee; Let me count the ways…There are three things I really LOVE about fall when it comes to portraits.

1. The sun sets crazy early (compared to summer!) and we get that ’sweet light’ at a much better time for children (and me :) ) to be out taking photos.Blog 4

2. The colours are magical!

3. Kids LOVE leaves. They do. So do adults, but especially kids…blog 9Of all the seasons, Fall is my favorite season to photograph. Adding lovely families to beautiful fall foliage just makes me giddy!

I get to photograph some of the sweetest little people ever, and the last little girl in front of my camera was no exception! A little shy and hesitant at first, she slowly warmed up and showed me her beautiful smile. Perfect, and toothless, and absolutely adorable. I love little baby girls!

I love photographs. I know it is probably self evident given my career choice. I love photographing people, but I find nothing more satisfying than sitting down after I have had a session with amazing people and bringing up my images. I get a little teary eyed going through them, seeing my clients (I mean really seeing them); I get a heart-racing, palms-sweating, breath-hitching excitement that swells through me knowing that what has been created from that time together will be a blessing to that family. My hope is that they will truly see themselves in their images.

I have a friend, Jana, that shares this passion with me. We have photographed each other’s families over the years and it is always fun to get her in front of my camera. Leave it to September in Alberta to give us sun, rain, a rainbow, more rain, and a spectacular sunset, within the span of an hour. I am so glad we persevered. I love the images we made. I love the memories that we made. I love that I really see them in their photos.

Jana, you can stop holding your breath now ;) Enjoy….Blog 4

I was so excited to go out and photograph this sweet little girl and her daddy this fall. I have known her since she was only a few days old (you can see her sweet newborn pictures here) And we got the whole family together the next year. Now she is almost two! Like most toddlers, she is a busy little girl, full of giggles, fun and a just little mischief.
