The last time I photographed this family, the kids were still in school and no babies had been born for a long, long time. Well fast forward a few years and there are 2 new additions, a daughter-in-law and beautiful new grand-daughter (Her newborn session is here!) It was decided that the family needed to commemorate the fact that the women now outnumber the men! Even though it happened to be the smokiest of evenings, we had a lot of fun out. Enjoy some of my favorites…

There is a very funny story behind this ‘family’ photo…it isn’t mine to share, but I hope the image evokes some good presumptions!Fort Saskatchewan Photographer-003It is always a pleasure spending an evening with your family. Thanks for the laughs!

Yesterday I got to practice my french with a fantastic family (and wow, are those skills rusty!) I have known this Maman since we were very young, but haven’t seen her for about 8 years! It was lovely meeting her husband and beautiful kids, and spending some time with them down by the creek near their home. Another Short & Sweet session full of fun and laughter! A few of my favorites…

Their oldest daughter just loves the camera (and the camera loves her back!) She was all smiles, and full of questions, mostly about my lenses and gear. It was fun trying to remember how to answer her in french, and asking her to repeat herself slower. lol!Edmonton Family photographer-004

And the baby…oh she is SO cute! Watching her run around and trying to get her to pause for a second to photograph her was super fun! It is just like trying to get a photo of Grace right now…next to impossible!

A Short & Sweet family…

August 13, 2010

I had the pleasure to work with a great family for a Short & Sweet session out at an acreage where I just LOVE to take clients. We survived some mild mosquitoes snacking on us, a sweet little farm cat that really wanted to be in our photos, and we even managed to get the family pooch to smile for me, all in 30 minutes (or so!) Here’s a peek at what we did. Enjoy!

These boys were so funny. “Do I have to touch him?” Can you feel the love? lol! I just love teenagers!St. Albert Family Photographer 003

And Mom and Dad, can I just say Wow! 20 years and you are still smiling at each other and having fun! St. Albert Family Photographer 005

I love photographing babies, but I especially love photographing babies that I love even before we meet and that I get to watch grow up for ever and ever! This is my newest niece, and she is gorgeous, and I “heart” her just oh so much! Never have I met as alert a three week old. Or as smiley. Yes, these are all genuine, ‘turn you into a puddle’ smiles to the sound of her momma’s voice. But after so much fussing she did at last succumb to a sweet dreamy sleep.

This sweet little girl stole my heart! As the smallest little person I have photographed (At under 6 pounds!) she was such an easy baby to work (play?) with. I am incredibly thankful for my amazing clients that trust me to catch these fleeting moments. In the days, weeks and months to come, she will change and grow and develop her own personality and ideas, but forever and ever I have been blessed to be a part of crystallizing this moment, this tiny portion of who she is. Thank you. Sherwood Park Baby Photographer 005

New York Zoo…

July 20, 2010

So what feels like forever ago (but was actually only a few months ago) I was in New York visiting my sister and her family and we decided to take the babies (21 months and 2 years at the time) to the Central Park Zoo. Now I have wanted to post these forever for family, but summer and camping and busy called and so here they are finally. It was such a great time, my only regret was that Daddy wasn’t there to share in the first zoo experience. Grace especially loved the monkeys and birds in the tropical pavilion, but I think the pigs were a hit and the goats terrified her, for some reason. Her cousin Claire seemed to love the whole thing, except the bridge (huh?) Kids are so funny.

New babies always strike me as such a miracle. Photographing women while they are in the midst of that miracle, life growing and engaging inside them, always brings me back to my own pregnancy and the joy of being apart of something so much bigger than myself. My husband and I often sat and watched this little person kick and roll in wonder, imagining how something so grand could start from two little pieces of each of us so infinitesimal. Spending time with Kimberley brought me right back to the wonder and awe of pregnancy. I was so happy to be able to spend time with this beautiful Momma showing off her miracle. And now I present the future prince or princess, a-la-womb :-)

I love Alli! I met Alli a billion years ago over the computer and through a mutual love of photography we have become great friends. I was honoured when she asked me to photograph the gorgeous girls in her family. How much fun would it be to have three baby sisters?!? So amidst a cool May blizzard (what?) we ventured out to play. Thankfully we stayed indoors for most of the time and were able to have a lot of fun. I had a hard time picking my favorites, but here are just a sneak at the ones I love the very most!

We are having a SALE!!! On gorgeous Canvas Gallery Wraps! I just found out that my specialty printer is having a sale, and so I am passing on those savings to you! Gallery Wraps are the most beautiful way to display your images. The image is printed on Canvas and wrapped around the edges of a stretcher bar, meaning you don’t have to have any framing done. You don’t need to worry about the frame taking away from your art work! As soon as you receive your Gallery Wrap you can hang it up. Here are a few samples being enjoyed in one client’s home.
